Infinity Subway Theory

Infinity Subway Theory: A Cy Reed Journal

This week in Cy Reed’s journal, Cy establishes an Infinity Subway Theory. Did the eight missing children disappear into Manhattan’s locked subway tunnels? How? And why?

Infinity Subway Theory

We’re pleased to release our 12th page of Cryptic today. Cryptic is our working title for Cy’s personal journals during the time period encompassed by Chaos. It focuses largely on his side investigation into a mysterious—and deadly—group known as the Infinity. This week’s entry, “Infinity Subway Theory,” is the last of a four-part mini-series. Here’s the first partsecond part, and third part.

“Infinity Subway Theory” contains the final inside page of a flyer Cy found just outside the 51st-53rd Street station complex. Like the other pages, it depicts a character from Captain Jellybones, a popular Internet cartoon series. An unknown person created the flyer in order to call attention to the sudden disappearance of eight children from extremely wealthy Manhattan-based families. In the margins, you can see Cy begin to theorize about how these kids, watched over by so-called “helicopter parents,” disappeared from their respective apartments without a trace. Manhattan’s subway tunnels, closed off at the time due to a labor strike, appears to be an important piece of the puzzle.

As always, enjoy! And if you need to catch up on old entries, make sure to visit the Cy Reed world.

Future Books / Projects

You never know when an idea will come together. Setting specifics aside, two particular slices of history have always intrigued me. One deals with lost technology and a strange mystery of history. The other is an urban legend about a deadly weapon. They seemed perfect for the Cy Reed universe, but I could never figure out how to turn either one into a book. Well, a few days ago something clicked and I started thinking about what would happen if I combined the two slices. Part of the story crystalized in my head and I quickly scribbled down a few notes so I wouldn’t forget it. And that story will be Cy Reed #6, ladies and gentlemen.

In other news, I’ve only written about 1,000 net new words since Thursday’s post. That’s a little misleading though since I also rewrote or cut (mostly cut) some 20,000 words. Status reports are below …

Behemoth (Apex Predator 1): First draft is in progress at 26,421 words. I’ve been cycling back a lot, changing earlier parts of the book to match up with where the story seems to be going. It’s on a better track now, but still not the right one.

Bunker (Apex Predator ?): First draft is paused at 6,090 words.

Collapse (Cy Reed Adventure #5): First draft is finished at 74,535 words.

Infinity Mystery Deepens

Infinity Mystery Deepens: A Cy Reed Exclusive!

This week in Cryptic, the Infinity mystery deepens. Why did eight wealthy children leave their Manhattan apartments late at night? And how did they disappear without being spotted?

Infinity Mystery Deepens

We’re pleased to release our 11th page of Cryptic today. Cryptic is our working title for Cy’s personal journals during the time period encompassed by Chaos. It focuses largely on his side investigation into a mysterious—and dangerous—group known as the Infinity. This week’s entry, “Infinity Mystery Deepens,” is the third of a four-part mini-series. Here’s the first part. And here’s the second part.

“Infinity Mystery Deepens” contains the second inside page of a flyer Cy found just outside the 51st-53rd Street station complex. Like the other pages, it depicts characters from Captain Jellybones, a popular Internet cartoon series. An unknown person created the flyer in order to call attention to the disappearance of eight children from extremely wealthy Manhattan-based families. In his notes, you can see Cy begin to puzzle how eight kids, watched over by so-called “helicopter parents,” disappeared from their respective apartments without a trace. Were they kidnapped by the Infinity? Did they go via their own free will? If so, why?

As always, enjoy! And if you need to catch up on old entries, make sure to visit the Cy Reed world.

Future Project Updates

By now, most of you have read Vapor, the fourth novel in the Cy Reed Adventure series. And Cy Reed #5, currently titled Collapse, shouldn’t be too far behind it. The first draft is already finished, although the subplots still require a good deal of work.

But first, Apex Predator is on its way. Apex Predator is my newest world and will be a significant departure from Cy Reed, most notably in how I’m writing it. I’m using a technique I like to call Shadow Writing (aka pantsing, writing into the dark, free writing, etc.). This time, there’s no outline, no plan. It’s just me writing into the shadows, slowly shedding light on the stories in my subconscious. I also stopped writing to a word count. Now, I’m writing in two-hour blocks with no word count guarantees. As of today, I’ve got ~29,000 words—116 pages—in two separate stories. One is smaller, more intimate and full of menace. The other is action-packed and crammed with mysteries. I’m not totally sure where each one is going yet, but I think they’re going to be some of my best stuff yet.

Cy Reed Investigates Disappearances

Cy Reed Investigates Disappearances?

Due to Memorial Day, we’re pushing Cy Reed Day to today here at David Meyer Creations. This week, we’ve got the tenth Cryptic page for you. Cy Reed Investigates Disappearances

We’re pleased to release our tenth page of Cryptic this morning. Cryptic is our working title for Cy’s personal journals during the time period encompassed by Chaos. It focuses largely on his side investigation into a mysterious—and dangerous—group known as the Infinity. This week’s entry, “Cy Reed Investigates Disappearances,” is the second of a four-part mini-series. You can find the first part here.

Cy Reed Investigates Disappearances contains the first inside page of a flyer Cy found just outside the 51st-53rd Street station complex. Like the flyer’s front cover, it depicts characters from Captain Jellybones, a popular Internet cartoon series. An unknown person created the flyer in order to call attention to the disappearance of eight children from extremely wealthy Manhattan-based families. Cy’s notes reveal a few sporadic details about the disappearances as well as their shocking connection to events that took place in 1916.

As always, enjoy! And if you need to catch up on old entries, make sure to visit the Cy Reed world.

Cy Reed meets Captain Jellybones

Today, we’ve got another Cryptic page for you. It’s titled, “Cy Reed meets Captain Jellybones” and reveals that the Infinity has struck a blow against Manhattan … the apparent kidnapping of eight children from some of New York’s wealthiest families. Cy Reed meets Captain Jellybones

We’re releasing our ninth page of Cryptic today and as you’ll see soon, things are really picking up speed. Cryptic, as most of you know, is our working title for Cy’s personal journals during the time period encompassed by Chaos. This week’s entry, “Cy Reed meets Captain Jellybones,” was written after Cy first broke into New York’s closed-off subway system. It features a flyer Cy collected just outside the 51st-53rd Street station complex. As you can see below, the flyer depicts characters from Captain Jellybones, a popular Internet cartoon series. As of today, we have yet to locate the person or persons that created this flyer. However, we do know that Captain Jellybones‘ creators had nothing to do with it.

As always, enjoy! And if you need to catch up on old entries, make sure to visit the Cy Reed world.

Cy Reed Visits ShadowFire HQ

In today’s edition of Cryptic, Cy Reed visits ShadowFire HQ. Plus, an important new symbol harks the coming of dark times. And oh yeah, have you bought Vapor yet?

Cy Reed Visits ShadowFire HQ

You’ll find the latest edition of Cryptic, “Cy Reed Visits ShadowFire HQ,” below. Cryptic, as a brief reminder, is our working title for Cy’s personal journals during the time period encompassed by Chaos. This week’s entry begins shortly after Cy exits ShadowFire HQ. Much has changed … for one thing, he’s been saddled with Beverly Ginger for a partner. As most of you know, this marks a major turning point in Cy’s life, although he didn’t know it at the time. More importantly, Cy comes across a brand new symbol, not far from Diane Blair’s apartment. Freshly painted and ominous, it hints at dark times ahead, both for him as well as for the children of Manhattan. As always, enjoy! And if you need to catch up on old entries, make sure to visit the Cy Reed world.

Cy Reed Battles Ryan Standish

Cy Reed Battles Ryan Standish

In this week’s edition of Cryptic, Cy Reed battles Ryan Standish! Plus, Cy experiences a dark premonition. And have you bought Vapor yet?

Cy Reed Battles Ryan Standish

Below, you’ll find the latest edition of Cryptic, the working title for Cy’s personal journals during the time period encompassed by Chaos. The title, “Cy Reed Battles Ryan Standish,” is a bit of a misnomer. This particular entry was written just after Cy and Ryan faced off at the Explorer’s Society. It also features Cy’s second character sketch, after Diane Blair. In addition, it mentions the Infinity as well as an interesting statement, that appears to be a very dark premonition. As I’ve mentioned before, I haven’t had a chance to peruse Cy’s entire journal yet. So, I have no idea what happened between him and the Infinity while he was in New York. But from what I hear, we’ll know soon. That’s all for now. If you need to catch up on old entries, make sure to visit the Cy Reed world.

Bought Vapor?

Cy Reed Encounters Diane Blair

Cy Reed Encounters Diane Blair

In “Cy Reed Encounters Diane Blair,” Cy attends an anti-treasure hunting speech given by former love, Diane Blair. But it’s not that simple. Especially since it’s been three years since he last saw her.

Cy Reed Encounters Diane Blair

This is Week 6 of Cryptic, our title for Cy’s personal journals during the time period encompassed by Chaos. I’ve entitled this entry, “Cy Reed Encounters Diane Blair.” Not the most exciting name, to be sure. But looks can be deceiving, especially since Cy and Diane were once very close. It ends abruptly and I’m sure many of you know the reason for that! Plus, our first character sketch—Diane—is revealed! No news on the Infinity this week but according to Cy, Diane will feature prominently in this adventure. You can read it below. And if you need to catch up on old entries, make sure to visit my Cy Reed world.

David Meyer Creations

The name change is still in progress! But lots of new updates. Starting off, I completely reworked the home page, the Cy Reed page, and the About page.

So, why the new name? Although I write books, I don’t see myself as an author. Rather, I view myself as a storyteller, capable of working in multiple mediums. David Meyer Creations reflects the fact that I’ll continue to write novels. But I also hope to branch off into new and exciting areas. Cryptic, is my first effort in this direction. In the future, I hope to take my characters and universes into graphic novels, films, and video games. Anything and everything is on the table!

Ready for Vapor?

Vapor, the fourth novel in the Cy Reed Adventure series, is done! I expect to begin the publishing process very soon. Keep an eye out for it … I think all of you are really going to like this one!

Cy Reed Visits Hostile Territory

This week, I’m pleased to release the 5th page of Cryptic, “Cy Reed Visits Hostile Territory.” In this entry, Cy visits the Lindbergh Auditorium at the Explorer’s Society. While preparing for his long-awaited reunion with Diane Blair, he reveals new information about the Infinity, including its connection to an ancient nursery rhyme. Check it out! And remember … if you need to catch up on old entries, make sure to visit my Cy Reed world. Also, I’ve prepared a new cover for Cryptic. I’ll announce it officially later this week but if you want the preview, you can see it at the Cy Reed world page.

David Meyer Creations

My web presence has undergone about a dozen name changes over the years so get ready for one more …David Meyer Creations. I bought the domain last week. It’s rather long, but it’s a better reflection of what I’m trying to do here, namely build a number of exciting worlds for you to enjoy! Currently, I’m running two worlds … Cy Reed and Guerrilla Explorer. Apex Predator, my newest world, is next!

Apex Predator

Speaking of Apex Predator, I’m excited to offer the first teaser for this strange and terrifying world. You can see it first here. More is coming soon!

Vapor

Vapor, the fourth novel in the Cy Reed Adventure series, is still undergoing final edits. The cover is done and the formatting is largely complete. I’m still hoping to get the book into your hands this week, but it might get delayed a week or two depending on how final edits go. Again, no promises, but we’re working very hard to get this done and into your hands!

Cy Reed Investigates Infinity Prophecy (Cryptic: Page 4)

Cy Reed Investigates Infinity Prophecy

This week, we look at Cy Reed Investigates Infinity Prophecy, the fourth page from Cy Reed’s journal. Get ready to learn some intriguing clues about the Infinity, which appears to have been plaguing Manhattan since the sixteenth century. Plus, more website updates and the countdown to Vapor continues!

Cy Reed Investigates Infinity Prophecy

I’m pleased to release page 4 of Cy Reed’s journal, which I’ve entitled, Cy Reed Investigates Infinity Prophecy. As you’ll see below, Cy Reed Investigates Infinity Prophecy is a continuation of last weeks’ entry. It’s the second half of a newspaper article from 1916. It provides some curious details about the Infinity as well as about the long-forgotten and mysterious disappearance of eight Manhattan-based children. I don’t want to give too much away, so go read it for yourself! And if you need to catch up on old entries, make sure to catch out my Cy Reed world. By the way, I’ve tentatively titled this edition of Cy Reed’s journal as Cryptic. At the moment, I’m adding page numbers and going through the process of reformatting old pages. Eventually, I’ll publish this story as a Cy Reed Journal paperback book and maybe an e-book for those of you who prefer hard copies or e-readers.

David Meyer Creations

I’m currently refocusing this website around the various worlds of what I’m currently calling, David Meyer Creations. That name, by the way, changes on a week-to-week basis! Anyway this week’s updates include general speed improvements to the blog page. Also, I’m rebuilding the front page to focus less on my individual books and more on my worlds, namely Cy Reed, Guerrilla Explorer, and the upcoming Apex Predator.

Vapor

Vapor, the fourth novel in the Cy Reed Adventure series, is currently undergoing final edits. I’m hoping to get the e-book into your hands the week of April 6. The paperback shouldn’t take much longer. No promises, but I’m working hard to make it happen.

Vapor by David Meyer

Vapor is Coming & Cy Reed is Back!

Vapor is coming! After thirteen long months, the fourth novel in the Cy Reed Adventure series is nearing completion. It’s been a long wait, but it’s definitely going to be worth it.

Vapor is Coming!

I don’t want to give too much away at this point, especially since final edits are underway. But Vapor, formerly known as Miasma, is everything you’ve come to expect from the Cy Reed universe. Ancient mysteries, lost treasure, strange monsters, an epic conspiracy, and more! Plus, Vapor will see the introduction of many new characters, several of which will be sticking around for future novels. I still don’t have a firm release date, but I’m shooting for early to mid-April.

In the meantime, head on over to the brand new Cy Reed page. While you’re there, make sure to check out our newest feature, the Cy Reed Journals. Every Monday, we’re adding new pages from Cy Reed’s personal journal, detailing the exploits of a previously unpublished story that took place during the events of Chaos. Filled with sketches, newspaper articles, and other items, the journal tells the story of Cy’s encounter with a mysterious group known as the Infinity. But the Infinity isn’t a new threat … curiously enough, it’s been terrorizing New York City for over a century. Enjoy!

Vapor is coming!
